Common Alder is a native British tree with a conical shape and glossy dark green leaves, which remain green well into autumn. Male catkins are produced before the leaves from January to March. Alder is a fast growing deciduous tree with rounded leaves. Most varieties produce catkins which make a welcome winter display before the leaves. Alder are ideal for creating a tall hedge or a windbreak and thrives in damp soil conditions, although it will also tolerate dry sites. It will reach an average height of 40ft+ if grown as a tree or can be regularly pruned to create a hedge 6ft+ tall.

We have an excellent range of the smaller sizes of ornamental trees in stock throughout the winter. However for larger sizes (or in busy periods) we may have to order your tree in. Please allow a couple of weeks for this.

 

Delivery

These trees are available for collection from the nursery or local delivery (within 40 miles of OX5 3BA). Due to their large size, unfortunately we can't offer nationwide delivery further afield unless we are already planning a journey your area. Please contact us for a local delivery quote or to see if we might be making a trip to your area.
