Lucy’s news from the nursery:

We are all back at the nursery this week so you’ll see Simon around on Saturday & me or dad (Andrew) around on Sunday. Whilst we were away, dad had a blitz on the bamboo area. This has allowed in more light so they are much happier & can be seen more easily?. There is always something being constructed/mended or being moved around at the nursery so there is never a dull moment. This weekend the polytunnel by the kiosk is being transformed into the bulb tunnel which will be nicely stocked up by next weekend ?

As we say goodbye to August, it is time to think about planting some later flowering perennials such as asters or anemones to add some colour to borders. We have had around 10 varieties of Japanese anemones arrive this week so plenty to choose from! You can see all the varieties on our New In Page. If you have pots that you want to fill for the autumn & winter, we have some lovely heathers, cyclamen, pansies & trailing violas brightening up the nursery.

If you are wondering what this week’s DEEBEE is…it’s a Livistona rotundifolia or more commonly known as a Footstool palm. A slow-growing indoor palm tree that captures the tropical feel of being on holiday. It has attractive fan-shaped leaves with spines on its stems. Pop in bright indirect sunlight away from droughts or radiators.

This week’s highlights… Asters, Japanese anemones, heathers, hebes, hardy geraniums, astrantia, dracena, cyclamen, pansies & more!

Some jobs for the garden:
* Wash bird feeders & keep topped up for the upcoming colder months
* If you have a glut of chillies this year, you can store them by threading the stalks onto cotton or wire & hanging them somewhere warm to dry.
* Lift, divide & replant perennials if the clump has become too congested (or give to a friend if you have too many in your garden). ?

Wishing you all the best
