Plante-Thinking-Outside-the-Bat-Box
Welcome to Plante-Thinking-Outside-the-Bat-Box, my name is Andrew & I would like to share with you our wonderful botanical life on a unique plant nursery situated close to Blenheim Palace and in the heart of the English Countryside.
I am passionate about nature & the environment so will be sharing with you my concept: Plante-Thinking (an anagram of planet thinking) which focuses on how we can grow plants to make a difference to our own mental well-being and our planet’s health & recovery.
This will include what some may consider rather wacky ideas (but I call ‘Thinking-Outside-the-Bat-Box’) to find solutions to the serious environmental problems & conundrums that face us all today.
Together I’m hoping we can "make a difference one idea, one leaf & one smile at a time".
Things I’ll cover in my videos include:
- Tours showing the comings & goings of a working plant nursery
- Gnit-Gnats (little snippets of the nursey or an interesting discovery)
- Chit-chats (longer videos about certain plants or highlights from around nursery)
- Plant Previews
- Plant spotlights
- Going off on a tangerine- Keeping you up to date with our bees
- Sunbeam Moments
- Rainbow Moments
- Plante-it-Forward initiative
- Local plant-related & community projects
If this is something you feel passionate about too then please consider subscribing to our Movement.so app for more content, videos & to turn these ‘Outside-the-Bat-Box ideas’ into a reality. You’ll also be supporting our not-for-profit initiative Plante-it-Forward to help bring the benefits of plants & nature to those struggling with their mental health. We will be working with conservation and mental health charities on projects to make it happen.
Thank you for your support

Project 1: Dancing Daffodils Wonderful World
Part 1 of ‘Dancing Daffodils Wonderful World’:
This video is about how to counteract the negative impact that seeing litter in the countryside or neighbourhood has on our mental wellbeing by planting daffodils in villages and urban areas.
We are giving away 22,000 daffodil bulbs for planting in November with the addition of 22 big bags of British potatoes so that communities can reward themselves with a tasty baked potato after a busy day planting 1000 bulbs (also picking up some litter along the way). It is then time to look forward to seeing the daffodils appear in the spring, fluttering and dancing in the breeze after a long, gloomy winter.
William Wordsworth’s poem ‘Daffodils’ and Louis Armstrong’s song ‘What a wonderful world’ were the inspiration behind the name of Project 1 of Plante-it-Forward ‘Dancing Daffodils Wonderful World’. This is the first of many ideas to help the planet (Plante is the old-English version of plant but also an anagram of planet), rebuilding communities and improving our mental health through positive plante-thinking.
I am hoping that we can “Make a Difference Together: One Idea, One Leaf & One Smile at a time”.
If you like this idea (and others) then please share & subscribe which will help it reach more people. If you are a like-minded business and feel you would like to support this initiative through a sponsorship/endorsment then please do get in touch so we can find a way to roll this idea out nationally next year if possible.
Thank you once again…Watch Part 2 of ‘Dancing Daffodils Wonderful World’ as we are giving away 150 tubs of miniature daffodils for local communities/neighbourhoods (also cowslips & wild primroses) to start the ball rolling and inspire people to apply for the 1,000 autumn daffodil bulbs. It also includes a snippet about Brixton Soup Kitchen & their amazing work plus a little idea to support British Farmers.
Kindest regards
Andrew (Mr Lean)
When looking for versions of ‘What a wonderful world’ I came across a version by Playing for Change who aim to “Unify the world through the power of music”. Their version features street performers and communities from around the world. It is an uplifting and heartwarming performance of a truly beautiful song so if you have some time please listen/watch here
Part 2 of ‘Dancing Daffodils Wonderful World’:
This video is about how to counteract the negative impact that seeing litter in the countryside or neighbourhood has on our mental wellbeing by planting daffodils in villages and urban areas. Over the years we have planted thousands of daffodils, snowdrops etc along the verges of Bunkers Hill village & it is always a joy to see the “host of golden daffodils” in the spring so we would like more villages & neighbours to experience this too.
To start the ball rolling we are giving away 150 tubs of miniature daffodils for local communities/neighbourhoods (also cowslips & wild primroses) to inspire people to apply for the 1,000 autumn daffodil bulbs (more information in Part 1). It also includes a snippet about Brixton Soup Kitchen & their amazing work plus a little idea to support British Farmers.
