Lucy’s news from the nursery:

This week we celebrated Grandma’s 80th birthday with a lovely afternoon tea garden party. She shared her birthday celebrations with the Wimbledon final & the World Cup final so it was a big day! Unfortunately we didn’t bring it home but we did have great birthday celebrations ?. Although grandma (Pauline) is now 80, she loves helping out at the nursery when she can or is usually doing something behind the scenes. This weekend she is helping at Kidlington market as Jan is on holiday. If you are after some bargains pop along to our stall! ?

Now the weather seems to have warmed up, it’s the perfect time to pop along to the nursery for a look at all the plants bursting with colour, wander around Old Walter’s Meadow, or maybe just sit under the apple tree with a delicious ice cream or a cup of triple-certified coffee.

This week I have been away in Seville with mum exploring the cobbled streets & the beautiful gardens. Whilst we’ve been away everyone seems to have been very busy potting & watering to keep everything looking lush. Imogen has brought over some of our Homegrown Hedgehog Herbs from the field for you to buy. They are lovely & bushy as we have grown them in peat-free compost in some new eco-pots which they seem to love?.

There has been a lots of whispers & rumours about what was happening at Blenheim Palace this week. It turns out King Charles met with 50 world leaders for the European summit. It seems the event went without any problems & the roads are now back to normal (until the Game Fair in a couple of weeks…).

Talking of road closures, there are some road works happening down Bunkers Hill in the next week or so which are happening in 2 phases. The first phase (22nd-26th July) should be partial road closures with there still being access to the nursery (you may have to speak with the guys on site to say where you are trying to get to). Then on the 5th & 6th August is phase 2 where there will be a complete road closure. We are just waiting for confirmation of this so the nursery may be closed on Monday 5th. We will update you via this newsletter, social media & on our website.

This week’s highlights: Lupins, dianthus, echinacea, sunflowers, Passion flowers, celosia, herbs, lavender & more!

Some jobs for the garden:
* Harvest your fruit & veg crops like chillies & find a way to store them (make chilli jam, freeze them, make hot sauce etc)

* Keep bird baths topped up with water & leave saucers on the floor for hedgehogs & other small creatures.
* Increase watering houseplants

Wishing you all the best
