Lucy’s news from the nursery:

The nursery is starting to turn orange with the arrival of pumpkins & gourds in all shapes & sizes. We have Crown Prince, Turkish turbans, munchkins, ghost pumpkins, flying saucers & many others including nobbly bobbly ones. You will see our new display as you enter the nursery - the perfect backdrop for those spooky photos. Our bulb tunnel is starting to get low on some varieties so don’t delay if you are looking to fill your garden with spring bulbs ???Jan is done the market this Saturday with some lovely bunches of cut flowers…why not pop along to say hi ?

Our annual Pumpkin Hunt & spooktacular fun! It will run from the 5th Oct throughout the month - with booking needed for weekends & half term only (during the normal week you can just turn up). Visit our website for more details & to book. We are currently constructing the Pumpkin Palace & some new pumpkin-tactic creations. All proceeds go to the mental health charities Mind & Restore.

We have now added our bareroot fruit trees to our website ready for you to pre-order for November. We also have some different varieties coming in January that will be available to pre-order shortly. You can visit our website to view our selection ?????

This week’s DEEBEE is a schefflera - commonly know as an umbrella plant. These are attractive foliage houseplants that are easy to grow. They can reach up to 7ft tall & you can get your own one for just £1. Our FREEEBEE this week is a gerbera. They come in a variety of colours & look very pretty sat on a windowsill.

This week’s highlights… Pumpkins, gourds, heathers, violas, pansies, polyanthus, primroses, cyclamen, hardy cyclamen, ferns, hebes & more!

Some jobs for the garden:
* Plant your spring bulbs (excluding tulips - plant those in November). You could try planting them using the lasagne method. We have some Yorkshire punk pots arriving new week that look great planted up with bulbs
* Cut back any leggy perennials - you’ll be surprised some of them are still putting on new growth lower down
* Check your gutters are clear and you waterbutt is attached properly to collect all of the precious rainwater

Wishing you all the best

P.S. You may have noticed the decoy secret phrase in last week’s newsletter…autocorrect changed windflower to wildflower & I didn’t notice! Well done to all those people who knew the correct answer anyway ?
