Common name: Silver Birch
A beautiful, conical tree with characteristic peeling white bark, which over time becomes marked with contrasting dark fissures at the base.
Its dark green leaves turn yellow in autumn and yellow-brown catkins are produced in spring.
The tips of the branches have a pendulous habit and the canopy is light and airy.
Silver birch makes an excellent screening tree, and will reach an eventual height of 40ft+ (can be kept smaller with pruning).
They are fast growing trees, tolerant of very exposed conditions
