Crocus

 

Crocus are one of the first of the spring bulbs to flower.

They are perfect for planting amongst grass, where they will spread and naturalise, or under deciduous trees where they will give a colourful show before the leaves and blossom emerge overhead.

Try planting in pots, either on their own or with other later flowering bulbs which will take over from the lovely goblet-shaped Crocus.

For a more natural look go for the species Crocus, whereas if you are looking for something a bit bolder the large flowering varieties are ideal.
