Product Description
1 x bare root 2yr plant approx 40-60cm tall
Common Pear is an ornamental tree with a columnar shape and long dark green glossy leaves. In spring the tree bears an impressive display of white blossom which is borne in long racemes over the entire tree. The flowers are followed by edible yellow-green fruits. Pyrus communis makes a good specimen tree or planted in a line as a screen. It grows best in well-drained fertile soil in full sun. Average height 35ft.
Recommended planting distance: 3 per m as a single species, or 5 per m as part of a mixed hedge
Hardiness: Fully Hardy
Suitable for: Single species hedge, part of a mixed hedge, specimen tree
Features: Blossom and fruits, wildlife friendly
Bare root plants: These plants can be planted anytime between November and March. We keep our bare root hedging in tubs of damp compost at the nursery. If you are not planting your plants immediately then keep the roots damp (preferably in compost) and out the sun until you are ready to plant.
