Product Description
1 x bare root 4yr old plant approx 40-60cm tall
English Yew (Taxus baccata) is a slow-growing, evergreen conifer with dense, deep green leaves. It produces bright red fruits in winter which are attractive to birds. Yew is excellent grown as a specimen tree, where it will reach an eventual height of 30ft, or as a thick hedge, where it can be kept pruned to any height from 3ft. It is also great for shaping into topiary, and lends a classic, timeless element to a garden. Yew is very long lived, and tolerant of shady, exposed or dry sites and of pollution.
Recommended planting distance: 2-2.5ft apart
Hardiness: Fully Hardy
Growth rate: up to 1ft a year once established
Other features: Long lived, evergreen, dense, tolerant of many conditions
Bare root plants: These plants can be planted anytime between November and March. We keep our bare root hedging in tubs of damp compost at the nursery. If you are not planting your plants immediately then keep the roots damp (preferably in compost) and out the sun until you are ready to plant.
