Product Description
1 x bare root 2yr old plant approx 40-60cm tall
Viburnum opulus is a hardy, vigorous, deciduous shrub ideal for a hedges or a woodland garden. It bears lacecap-like, white flowers in late spring, followed by bright red, fleshy fruit thats ripens to black. Viburnum lantana differs to viburnum opulus in it's leaves, which are heart shaped rather than lobed, as well as being deeply veined and covered in a soft downy hair. The leaves turn bright oranges and reds in autumn. It is tolerant of a wide range of positions and soil types.
Recommended planting distance: 3 per m as a single species, or 5 per m as part of a mixed hedge
Hardiness: Fully Hardy
Suitable for: Single species hedge, part of a mixed hedge, specimen shrub
Features: Blossom and fruits, wildlife friendly
Bare root plants: These plants can be planted anytime between November and March. We keep our bare root hedging in tubs of damp compost at the nursery. If you are not planting your plants immediately then keep the roots damp (preferably in compost) and out the sun until you are ready to plant.
We may prune 20% off the tops of your plants before sending. This will encourage strong bushy growth
