Product Description
10 x bare root 80-100cm tall
A conical, deciduous tree with glossy dark green leaves which remain for a while after other species of trees' leaves have turned autumn colours. Pendent yellow-brown male catkins open from January to March, before the leaves. Average height 50ft+. Ideal as windbreaks. Ideal for damp conditions but will tolerate dry sites
Recommended planting distance: 1ft (30cm) apart in single rows, or 5 per metre in a staggered row
Hardiness: Fully Hardy
Suitable for: Single species hedge, part of a mixed native hedge
Features: Fast-growing, Wildlife-friendly, Catkins in spring
Bare root plants: These plants can be planted anytime between November and March. We keep our bare root hedging in tubs of damp compost at the nursery. If you are not planting your plants immediately then keep the roots damp (preferably in compost) and out the sun until you are ready to plant.
We may prune 20% off the tops of your plants before sending. This will encourage strong bushy growth
