Pawpaw, False Banana. A native US species of Pawpaw that is fully hardy and can be grown in the UK as a shrub or small tree. Unusual and striking deep purple-brown flowers appear in spring and if you are lucky may be followed by delicious edible fruits! Average height/spread 12-13ft. Full sun. Hardy.
