Common name: Michaelmas Daisy, New England Aster.
'Aster' translates as 'Star' from Ancient Greek and these plants are so-called because they produce masses of starry, daisy-like flowers from September to October when most other flowers are fading in the garden.
They provide a late source of nectar for many insects too.
Average height 3ft.
Full sun/Partial shade.
Hardy.
