Ribes sanguinium 'King Edward VII' (Flowering Currant)
Flowering currant is an upright shrub with thronless branches and lobed leaves that have an attractive 'curranty' aroma. In May-June, pendant deep-red flowers cover the shrub, making a striking display when planted as a hedge. The flowers are followed by small blue-black berries. the variety 'King Edward VII' had an upright habit and is more conpact than many other variety. It makes an excellent informal hedge (trim to shape after flowering) or can be planted in a mixed border. Grows well in well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade. Average height and spread 4-5ft
