Tilia cordata (Small Leaved Lime)

Tilia cordata, or small leaved Limeis a conical tree with rounded dark green leaves that are lighter beneath. Clusters of fragrant, pale yellow flowers, that have a sweet scent, and are attractive to insects, are produced in July. Lime is a tall tree that makes a good windbreak or avenue tree. It will grow in most soils as long as they are not too dry, but prefers neither strongly acid or strongly alkaline conditions. The average height is approx 45ft, spread 20ft.
