Common name: Spindle
Spindle is a bright, familiar native hedgerow shrub with dark green leaves which turn a stunning bright scarlet in the autumn. Small yellow flowers are borne is spring, that attract insects and bees and are followed by brilliant, rosy red and orange fruits in autumn. Spindle is a fast-growing, informal hedging plant, particularly suited to a mixed hedge. Average height 4-8ft (prune to desired height). Grows almost anywhere, particularly on chalk
